Used to develop fingerprints on non-permeable, smooth surfaces. black is useful to provide contrast against light color surfaces. The powder is easy to apply on horizontal and vertical plane surfaces.Fingerprints generally are mixtures of oil and sweat from the skin surface. The performance of fingerprint powders is best on oily prints; while cyanoacrylate fuming tends to develop fingerprints that have sweat as a component particularly well.
Black fingerprint powder has somewhat less adhesive strength than gold and silver fingerprint powders but it provides excellent contrast against light surfaces. Lower adhesion can be beneficial in that it is not as susceptible to over-development at furrow areas of the fingerprint. Black fingerprint powder also works better in environments with higher humidity. The powder is less prone to airborne dispersion.
Method of Usage
Dip forensic brush into the powder, and lightly brush the latent fingerprints directly until black color fingerprints presents.
